Portal Management Tool (PMT)
The Business Reasons
Usually Portal has a lot of information to be easily, quickly and reliable changed. By the way it has a lot of dynamic content that can be changed (decorated) too. Of course we can assign team of well-qualified web masters and programmers but it will be too expensive solution. PMT combines usability, user friendly interface and great abilities for managing, administering and filling Portal with different HTML/JSP/ASP content.
Primary goals:
- Create abilities to fill/refresh content on the huge site/Portal easily, without any special know ledges of DHTL/HTML
- Support users hierarchy, administering, content creating, content editing, validating and publishing content.
- Create tool to gather statistic from Portal with ability to observe them in PMT
- Create flexible PMT integrated solution for managing advertisement on Portal
- Create outstanding performance advertisement engine, based on clustered solution with two equally matched solutions .NET and Java
The Solution
PMT
All content has strong structured skeleton, in other words it categorized and transformed into XMLs. XMLs is the informational storage. All xmls placed under version control that makes content manipulation traced. Xmls of course can be described of DTD/XSD schema. Validation by XSD helps to make content creation maximally rigorous.
XMLs can be decorated and transformed to html or JSP/ASP/Portlets using XSLT. XSLTs are categorized as well and applying different categories of ones lead to decorating Portal with new skins.
Solution is very flexible cause of big extension libraries, included index page generator and many other features.
All information about all manipulations with PMT is stored in DB. User of PMT can have set of different roles to observe or control every step of HTML/active content creation. Flexible users and roles hierarchy makes administering very scalable.

Advertisement Engine Server (AES)
AES is advertisement (banner rotating) system.
Main features:
- Important! It is high performance application, can serve > 200 requests per second in cluster mode with 2 P4 1GB Ram. It corresponds to approximate load of huge and popular site with >30000 html pages with banners, for example large airline company's site. Google’s load is several times higher.
- Has two independent (but with shares sources) .NET J# and Java applications. .NET performance is twice higher.
- Integrated with all PMT system.
- All statistics is automatically withdrew from AES DB and imported into PMT reports module.

- DB: MSSQL 7.0- 2000
- IIS and .NET or Tomcat 5.x or JRun 3.x.
Reporting system
System to track all activities of portal, including newsletters, advertisement visits and shows, different deals and so on.
Main features:
- XML-XSLT driven engine to easily build (and upload to PMT reporting system) new reports, based on arbitrary DBs.
- Powerful Java-driven QueryBuilder.
- Backup-Restore procedure for large amount of data (more the 40GB, for example monthly backup).
- Integrating with main product PMT.
